March 19, 2011 Perigeean Full Moon

The "Big One"– full moon on March 19, 2011 (Rochester, NY, 10:15 PM EST).
This full moon is closer to Earth than any full moon in nearly the last 20 years. It's interesting to compare it to the January full moon in the previous image (taken in Oakland, 1/18/11). You can view these two moons superimposed in an animated GIF which also shows some of the moon's "libration" (rocking motion) that occurred during the 2-month interval.
